Global Siemens Device Portfolio Management
Ownership of the worldwide approved device catalogue for all Siemens employees, covering direct vendor and manufacturer engagements (Apple, Google, Samsung), strategic budget and demand balancing, and a custom-built tool for bi-monthly portfolio updates.
Overview
As the Global Device Portfolio Manager at Siemens, I owned the catalogue of all approved endpoints for employees worldwide. This catalogue defines which devices may be ordered, managed, and supported, and forms the foundation of the entire endpoint management ecosystem.
Responsibilities
Vendor and manufacturer engagement
Direct conversations with device manufacturers and vendors such as Apple, Google, and Samsung on roadmaps, enterprise suitability, and support commitments for new models. From this information I derived recommendations for adding or retiring devices in the portfolio.
Strategic balancing
Portfolio decisions on adding, maintaining, or phasing out device generations were based on continuous balancing between the company’s strategic direction, real user requirements, and the budgets of individual countries and departments.
Bi-monthly portfolio updates
About every two months, an updated device list was distributed to all relevant departments and internal communication platforms. I designed, built, and operated the tool that handles this process, covering everything from data updates to automated distribution in a structured, repeatable workflow and ensuring consistency, traceability, and reliability across each release cycle.
